Warm and Fuzzy Romances
Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares by David Levithan and Rachel Cohn
If you love bookstores or the new TV show on Netflix this book is for you.
When Lily leaves a red notebook in one of her favorite bookstores, she doesn’t expect for it to be picked up by bookish Dash, but he does pack it up. They both go on an adventure through all of New York; each dare in the book leads them to a special place in NYC, and over time the two start to fall for each other.
I love this book because it centers around a bookstore. Exploring NYC through the eyes of these characters was my favorite part of this book

If you love spending the holidays with a big crazy family, you will adore this one. When Sophie’s boyfriend breaks up with her days before the holidays, her extended family sets her up with ten blind dates. Her holidays just got crazer. Throw in an ugly sweater party, a live nativity with a crying baby and an insane underground party and sohpe holiday just got a whole lot stranger.
This was hilarious. I loved reading a book that centered around a crazy family dynamic. I laughed so much at the one, it’s truly a fun read.

If you like short stories try this delightful collection of holiday tales. From Holly Black to Jenny hahn these authors work to bring you a collection of short stories to get you in the holiday spirit.
I loved how quickly these stories went. It was perfect for the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season, I could read in between wrapping gifts, decorating the house and singing carols.
Ex-mas by Kate Brain
If you love stories of second chances and sibling love try this book.
When Lila’s younger brother finds out about global warming, he is desperate to save Santa. The only person who can help her is her ex-boyfriend. So on she goes on a crazy journey to find her brother. But will she and her boyfriend make up?
I love road trip adventures and this one was the perfect read for the Christmas Season. The Charters were cute and the little brothers added just the right amount of humor.
Chilling adventures
As the weather gets colder these characters brave the weather and find magic.
Winterspell by Claire Legrand
If you are a fan of the ballet The Nutcracker and love a dark twist on your favorite fairy tales, this is the book for you. Clara lives a normal life in 1899 New York, although she is the mayor’s daughter and secretly takes self defense classes from her godfather. But when her father is kidnaped on Christmas Eve by things that are not human. She travels into the land of Cane with a runaway prince to save him. Until she realizes something all in the land of Cane is not as it seems.
This was amazing because I loved the dark fantasy spin on the nutcracker. Clara was a very strong well written caracterter.
The Legend of Holly Claus by Brittany Ryan
If you were fascinated with Santa Claus and the magical world he lived in, this book is great for you.
Holly Claus was born from a wish. She is the daughter of Santa Claus, and growing up with a magical curse on her wasn’t easy. By the time she is 17, she is consumed with the longing to break this curse, which leads her to Victorian New York. Along the way, she learned more about herself then she ever dreamed of.
This is a favorite of mine. I try to read it every year in December. I love how it puts me in the Christmas Spirit and keeps the magic of the season alive.
East by Edith Pattou
If you love wintery fairy tales this is the book for you. Rose has a destiny. Her superston mother has always kept the unally circumstance of her birth a secret to stop Rose from leaving home. But when a white talking bear shows up at the house one day and asks Rose to come along in exchange for riches for her family she agrees. She soon finds out about a cure she must break, and in order to break it she must travel to the kingdom of the trolls.
I love fairy tale retellings. East was a personal favorite of mine because I love the original fairytale East of the Sun and West of the Moon.
The Bear and the Nightingale by Kathrne Arden
If you long tales about charters passed through generations you will love this one. Vanissila loves the cold but her stepmother wants to turn her into a lady. She forbids the family from honoring the household spirits and bad things start to happen. Vanissila must venture into the first to help thng return to right.
This was a magical wintery read. I loved the setting and the folklore inspired characters.
