The 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics were the topic of much controversy, from FBI director Kash Patel being filmed partying in the locker room with the US men’s hockey team, to Vice President JD Vance getting booed by audiences, as well as the various cheating scandals that erupted. In particular, controversy came from the Swedish men’s curling team alleging that their Canadian counterparts were cheating.
The Swedish men’s curling team accused the Canadian team of “double touching,” an illegal move in the sport of curling. This resulted in a shouting match during the round, and a warning from the governing body, World Curling.
The Canadian women’s curling team faced the same “double-touching” allegations by the Swedish team. However, neither Canadian team has been charged with cheating by World Curling.
The conflict has continued throughout the Olympics with no real resolution as there is no proof that the Canadian team did cheat.
